There is a psychological phenomenon, known as impostor syndrome. It is that little voice in your head that kicks in, shakes your confidence, and triggers feelings of inadequacy. We all feel it at one point or another. It makes us question our qualifications and accomplishments, making us feel that we are not good enough and that our successes are minimal and underserved. It’s a feeling of vulnerability and a largely irrational feeling which makes you feel that deep down you’re a fraud, and that those around you will find you out. Imposter syndrome happens to the best of us. Yes, even the most respected and high-achieving leaders. The truth is, no one’s immune, but if you define success for yourself it helps to keep your success from becoming a moving target.
