Bush Sister's Emotional Open-Letter to Sasha and Malia

You may want to grab a box of tissue before you read any further.

2016 ended with -- as Vanessa De Luca, Essence editor-in-chief so eloquently puts it -- "a dizzying postelection hangover". And with the inauguration of the new president elect looming over us, 2017 have put Kleenex on high demand. From Michelle Obama's final speech to President Obama's farewell speech, and Obama's surprising Vice President Joe Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction; you would think by now we would have been all cried out. But, think again!

Just as they did eight years ago, Jenna and Barbara Bush wrote Sasha and Malia another emotional open-letter filled with praises and words of encouragement (see video below). The former first daughters dished out words of wisdom that are, without doubt, important life lessons for everyone.

“Explore your passions. Learn who you are. Make mistakes—you are allowed to. Continue to surround yourself with loyal friends who know you, adore you and will fiercely protect you. Those who judge you don’t love you, and their voices shouldn’t hold weight. Rather, it’s your own hearts that matter.”

Watch below, as the Bush sister's read their letter on the Today Show on NBC.
