NYFW: DKNY Fall 2016 Beauty + Style Trend Report
Besides the celebrity-filled front row of the DKNY Fall 2016 collection presented at the Skylight Modern venue, it was hard not to take note of the reincarnated '90s. The design duo Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne - in their sophomore year - drew their inspiration from the signature girl groups of the ‘90s for their DKNY Fall 2016 collection. The theme was 90’s era logomania, a riff on menswear and sexy tomboy.
The Beauty - Au Naturale
DKNY beauty was au naturale! The makeup set the tone and complimented the collection which emphasized the 90s girl group era. The key to the look sophisticated minimalist beauty. As mentioned HERE, the hair of the moment is simple, easy, and sometimes messy. It seems hair was at odes with flatirons, curling irons and shine serums; as models rocked their unique textures. Makeup was individualistic and ethereal with a singular makeup statement - darkened brows with arch straightened.
I must however note, that au naturale makeup does take a lot of work.

The Clothing - Sexy Tomboy '90s Era
Highlighting New York street style of the nineties the DKNY collection was basically menswear inspired smart street fashion. The collection featured cropped jackets, trousers, jumpsuits, some silky, and body-con slip pieces punctuated by utilitarian lacing and signature wool pinstripe. Like the Prabal Gurung fall 2016 collection, DKNY also adopted some raw slashes and hems. The DKNY Fall 2016 collection also showcased silk tees and bonded denim that read “INSERT LOGO HERE.” And I must not forget the heavy rubber-soled boots in black and brown.
