Aveda Trend Report: Hair & Makeup at Chiara Boni SS16 NYFW
During NYFW I had the pleasure of getting backstage press access courtesy of Aveda, to get a sneak peak into the Chiara Boni Flower garden. So today I’m taking you behind the scenes and into the flower garden of the Chiara Boni La Petite Robe NYFW SS16 show to bring you the Aveda Trend Report. Hair and makeup that complemented the elegant clothing, including swimwear and party dresses, all accented with delicate bursting rosettes that emphasized the collection’s ladylike hues.
The Makeup - Flower in Bloom
The key to the look is bright pop of color on the lips accented with shine to highlight the fresh and vibrant feel of the clothes, -Janell Geason
Aveda Global Artists Director for Makeup Janell Geason set the tone for the breathtaking Chiara Boni La Petite Robe Spring 2016 Collection with gorgeous shades of pinks and oranges inspired by a blossoming rose garden. Janell emphasized the look of a fresh budding rose through glistening skin and perfectly pretty pink lips.
Create the Look
Take it from me, fabulous makeup starts with a great base! So to create a luminous, fresh complexion, Aveda Inner Light™ Mineral Tinted Moisture was used all over the face. The camouflage imperfections where needed with Inner Light™ Concealer, before setting lightly with Inner Light™ Mineral Loose Powder with a powder brush.
If needed, fill in the brows with Petal Essence™ Eye Color Trio in Gobi Sands, otherwise keep it natural. Janell Geason recommends using the brow brush, which I personally like to use.
Using a blush brush apply Petal Essence™ Face Accents in Apricot Whisper to illuminate along the cheekbones, and a touch of Petal Essence™ Face Accents Rose Blossom to the apples of the cheeks.
Now for the highlight of the look! Line the lips with Nourish-mint™ Lip Liner in Purple Sage and blend edges inwards. Fill in lips with Nourish-mint™ Smoothing Lip Color in Wild Fuchsia with brush, and add a touch of Nourish-mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Sun Kissed Melon to the center of the lips.
The Hair - Flowering Rose Bud
The slick finger waves emulated the look of rose petals, and organically transitioned into free-flowing hair that was little wild and natural, like a blooming flower. -Jon Reyman
To complement the makeup and collection, Aveda Guest Artist Jon Reyman created gorgeous layers of textured hair, accented with sleek modern finger waves which unfold into beautiful, free-flowing hair framing the models’ beautiful faces.
Create the Look
Start by prepping hair with a liberal misting of Aveda Thickening Tonic and blow dry hair for texture.
Part hair down the center, and apply a generous amount of Aveda Brilliant™ Retexturizing Gel to the top half of head to give it the wet look.
Jon started on the right side by forming a traditional finger waves from the top of the part going down to the back of the ear. Setting each waved section with a clip. Then repeat on the left side.
PRO TIP: Jon placed a playing card under each clip to avoid ridging on the hair.
A stocking cap was placed over clipped waves to further set style, and while the top was drying, Jon curled the loose hanging hair around a ¾” barrel curling rod. Use a wide-tooth comb to comb out the freshly set curls for flowing loose waves.
Last but not least, apply new Aveda Shampure™ Dry Shampoo (coming November 1, 2015) on the back for added texture, remove the cap and clips - and let finger waves hang naturally.
