Capturing the Spirit of a Moment

This week marks the beginning of a new season. Yes summer 2015, a new chapter in my daughter's life, in my life, but also a new chapter in a nation. Though we have all been blindsided by a few things this past year, I learned that by stepping calmly out on faith, sometimes with tears and hard work, expectations can be exceeded. Somehow God always has a funny way of taking care of things. Just take a look at how politics is changing in the South. Like our nation, I have been doing a bit of restructuring, and have taken some steps to accomplish goals that for some reason in the past seemed elusive. But I must confess, while it feels great to do things on your own terms, it is a bit scary at the same time. Stepping outside the box can seem exciting, but it also means making choices that are not always safe.

Fear will try to steal your resolve, but you must muster the courage to push through. #graduation #collegebound #mommyblogger #goals

Like my daughter and her graduating class was reminded...

You will meet opportunities, and you will also face obstacles but the decisions you make today will shape your future.

The road to success will sometimes get rocky, but you can’t let fear paralyze you from taking steps towards your goals. Fear will try to steal your resolve, but you must muster the courage to push through. Even though I've had [and still have] my share of bumps in the road, I’ve never been more clearer on what it is that I want. I am willing to do the work to pursue the dreams and desires of my heart.

Don’t count yourself out, tap into your innate strengths, don’t leave your dreams to chance, and define your own success. #goals #collegebound #mommyblogger

Speaking of which, frustrated with my growing waistline, on Monday I posted a 30 Day Walking Challenge - which I started myself last Friday. One of a list of things I would like to accomplish. So far I have been pretty consistent averaging just above 2,000 steps per day. It may not be the 10,000 steps per day recommended, but at least I’ve gotten started. Have you?

Like me, I am challenging you to make a list of goals and start pursuing them. There are going to be moments when fear creeps in and try to distract you from your dreams but don’t be deterred by it. Don’t count yourself out, tap into your innate strengths, don’t leave your dreams to chance, and define your own success.

What one goal have you let fear deter you from pursuing?
