NYFW in Brooklyn: Alexander Wang Fall 2014 - The Hair, Makeup and Fashion

It's Monday, day 5 of New York Fashion Week.  And I'm sure you are having a difficult time keeping up with all the events and activities. I know I am!  However, I am doing my best to keep you in the loop.

The much anticipated Alexander Wang show took place Saturday night in the Duggal Greenhouse at The Navy Yard in Brooklyn - away from the official NYFW Lincoln Center hub. Wang who was inspired by extreme weather conditions and surviving them, gave us a look towards the future - think "high tech fashion soldiers."

The Hair and Makeup

Alexander Wang's Fall 2014 show was all about "tomboy beauty."  The models' hair were side parted and super slicked to look almost like a helmet. The eyebrows were bleached to look almost  invisible, and faces were made up to enhance the lightness and shadows. The final product was a strong futuristic look.

The Fashion

Almost like soldiers, the models walked the runway in a super fast march in knee high boots with white soles. Shoulder and waist bags were used to accessorize, the color palette remained on the darker side with neon colors making cameo appearances. Though the show started with boxy over coats it went on to transform into more slouchy and sporty looks - as we've been seeing in other collections. Wang managed to create a modern high tech uniform for fashion editors - efficiently designed with utility pockets for smartphones, lipsticks, notebooks, or lighters.

To top off the show, models dressed in all black formed a semi-circle in high tech heat activated looks, which changed to vibrant colors as the runway rotated.
