During New York Fashion Week Anya Caliendo showcased her SS 2014 Millinery collection "Confessions,"  which got me thinking of how much a hat can complete an outfit. Millinery trends work together to complement fashion trends; and gone are the days when hats and headpieces are only associated with "race day glamour."

During the 40's and 50's - Hollywoods glamour era - hats were a way of life, they were worn day and night.  Movies like the "Great Gatsby" has helped the resurgence of the millinery industry, especially to the cloches and pillboxes.  20's styles, masculine or structured shapes, fedorastrilbys, and head scarves will also be popular both in high fashion and street style.  You will see headpieces in a range of bold colors, prints, stripes, and monochromatic black and whites accented with feathers, floral halos and jewelry trims.  Headpieces will either hug the face, sit on one side or centrally on the head.
