Joey Oso, Hair Stylist
A maestro of styling hair, Joey Oso changes lives and makes both women and men feel, sexy desired, and special. I met Joey a couple of years back, and since then he has been at the top of my list for client's who need hairstyling services.
He understands the shape of a face, and matches facial features and body types to the appropriate hairstyle to bring out each client's most beautiful self making each hairstyle the perfect accessory. Joey's philosophy is to learn the most he can about the beauty profession, "I want to be able to help all walks of life look and fell good. A hairstyle can change your complexion and the way you feel. Your outlook on life, everything!!!"says Joey.
Joey feels hair is a reflection of one's personality and it should be worn like you mean it. He studied hair-cutting and styling at Vidal Sassoon in Miami, in New York with Toni & Guy, as well as with Aveda. He joined the L'Oreal family in 2010, as a L'Oreal Professional he is with the division that works primarily on photo-shoots and fashion shows. In July of 2012 he also joined the WABC-TV family as a hair stylist for Good Morning America.
Joey believes it’s important to be aware of the latest hair styling and hair cutting techniques, as well as the new products available on the market. He constantly educates himself and keeps a watchful eye on both style and products. He remains on the cutting edge in the hair, fashion and beauty industry; servicing clients with haircuts and various styles on photo-shoots or preparing brides and bridesmaids for weddings.
Joey's Hair-raising Tips
Always make sure your mousse doesn't have alcohol: pour some on a flat surface, if it doesn't grow and it doesn't look yummy and fluffy like whip cream stay away from it. Alcohol weighs down and dry out hair, it will also strip hair of the color put into it. Non alcohol mousse is better for curls.
When hair is fully dirty and you don't have a place to wash it, use a diffuser on a blow dryer all around your hair for about 10mins while rubbing your fingers thru the lumps of hair strands, you'll find your hair looking clean and fresh like it's right out of the shower. The diffuser dissipates the product in your hair.
Spray your hair with sea salt, then use a sock to roll sections of your hair around it and once you reach the top of your head tie the sock. Do this for all parts of your hair, go to to sleep with this type of pin set on, wake up, undo the socks and find your self with beach- waves.
